Update and My Current 3DS Addiction

I have been particularly busy with my regular job lately, which has slowed my release schedule significantly. It has not however, slowed my research and consumption of games… priorities man. To update the community, I would like to say that in the past weeks, I have completed three games and am currently working on a fourth that are relevant to the subject matter of this site; retro and retro-inspired games. Some updates:

  • Two of these games will become part of the Retro Revamped series, which has been dormant since the release of my Bravely Default article in the site’s early days.
  • One of these Retro Revamped game’s will also have a companion boss guide article that will likely be released prior to the review.
  • The 2 Retro Revamped games are both 3DS titles, that were absolutely spectacular, and both of the articles are halfway completed. One is an RPG and one is a platformer.
  • The other article is about a GB title that was the birth of an exciting Nintendo racing franchise, dormant since the GameCube era… and no, it is not F-Zero.

As a side note, I am really going through a 3DS phase right now and cannot put the damn thing down. I have always played the mighty handheld consistently, but have gone on an unparalleled rampage through a number of titles. If any one has slept on the console, now is the time to buy in. It is approaching the end of its life cycle and has an incredibly deep and varied library. Coupled with its backwards compatibility with DS titles, Virtual Console titles, and ease of softmodding for emulators, I consider it a must own for all gamers.

I would personally suggest the New 3DS XL or New 2DS XL for slightly increased processing power and the ability to play a small, but quality line-up of exclusives that require the added power. The 2DS models are NOT capable of 3D, but I rarely use it anyway.

For those who are tight on cash, the original 2DS model is super cheap and accessible. It is intended for kids, but I see no reason why a frugal, adult gamer shouldn’t benefit from it.

Personally, I own the New 3DS XL model and am completely satisfied, with one major exception: the MicroSD card is a major PAIN IN THE ASS to access. The back shell of the console must be unscrewed and removed to access the MicroSD port, which really sucks for those who want to upgrade their storage or want to access it often. Luckily, this is not an issue in other models.

Overall, I look forward to further increasing the site’s library of articles with varied and interesting content and hope I am entertaining and informing my loyal readership.

Thank You.
